Khaldoon Al Mubarak
Khaldoon Al Mubarak is an Emirati businessman. Having been educated in Boston’s Tufts University, where he obtained a degree in Economics and Finance he then went on to begin his career as a sales-executive at the Abu Dhabi National Oil company. Khaldoon boasts an impressive list of business experiences and achievements. Having worked for the construction and real estate company Mubadala Development Company to which he became CEO in, Khaldoon has also gone on to govern many boards including Aldar Properties and First Gulf bank and has become a member of the Executive Affairs Authority. Even more recently he can also add chairman on to his list of professional titles as in September 2008 he was appointed the chairman of Manchester City Football Club after the buyout of the club by Abu Dhabi United Group.
To list all of Khaldoon’s achievements would take days and would probably fill this whole magazine but it is imperative that his hard work and all of his success be acknowledged as he is such a huge figure and an inspiration to many. He has changed Abu Dhabi for the better and has now challenged himself to change other places and other things for instance Manchester and their football club.
In 2007, Khaldoon was made Commander of the Star of the Order of the Italian Solidarity for his crucial role in the economic relationships formed between Italy and the United Arab Emirates. He is also a trusted and valuable aide of the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Khaldoon is not only the chairman of Manchester City Football Club he is also involved in motoring and is the chairman of the Abu Dhabi Motor Sport Management Company and was a key and crucial figure in negotiating and finalizing the Grand Prix. Including all this Khaldoon was also influential in getting the FIFA Club World Cup to be held in Abu Dhabi. Is there anything this walking entrepreneur can’t do or hasn’t been involved in? Well, apparently not.
Not only has he conquered the Sport world with influences in the Grand Prix and the FIFA World Cup, Khaldoon has also been successful in the educational world. Khaldoon is a member of the Abu Dhabi Educational as well as being on the board of Trustees for New York University, and is one of the people who oversaw the development of a campus in Abu Dhabi. This impressive and highly influential man was also the chairman on the Imperial College London Diabetes centre in Abu Dhabi that opened in 2008 that specialise in Diabetes Treatment, Research, Training and Public health. Khaldoon really has changed Abu Dhabi for the better, the list of accomplishments that he has achieved are never ending and the professional, business side to him is vast and so wide spread. Khaldoon has literally done everything!! The above achievements of his professional career are only a small fraction of what he has done, I have failed to mention that he is Executive Vice President- Corporate for Dolphin Energy, The CEO and managing director of Government owned investment company Mubadala Development and to top it all of his company owns significant stakes and shares in other companies such as a 5% share in Ferrari. If that isn’t enough work for him, Khaldoon is also a significant figure in the Abu Dhabi Government. When the Abu Dhabi government was restructured in 2006, Khaldoon became chairman of Executive Affairs Authority and a member of the Executive Council for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
This international businessman has channelled and surrounded himself by work and by carrying out and overseeing projects that will better Abu Dhabi. He is a crucial member in the Abu Dhabi government and has also gone international, being a leading member in projects in the United States of America and the United Kingdom. You cannot help but gasp at the long list of accomplishments and business projects Khaldoon is a part of, you would think one man being part of so many important and crucial job roles would be impossible and yet Khaldoon shows it is possible and in his case is hugely successful and beneficial. He is highly influential not only to the citizens of Abu Dhabi but to people everywhere, he is gathered as an international influence as his remarkable drive and willpower to succeed is one of a kind and hard to come by.
