Final word
“ Never , Never , Never Give Up ” Winston Churchill
Every now and then life throws us in the deep end and tells us to swim to shore. We find ourselves in overwhelming situations that we don’t know how to deal with. How many times have we all experienced failure, how many times have we been knocked down... The simple solution is giving up and saying “it’s over, I cannot take it anymore and I cannot fight for the things I want and desire”...
“Our greatest glory is not, in never falling but in rising every time we fall” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Pain and hardships are inevitable. No one can escape them, and every single one of us, at some point in our life, will experience hardships of some form or another. When we suffer truly difficult situations; the way we deal with these circumstances determines who we are. The reality of failing causes stress for most of us because it is against our plans and dreams, but when we think more deeply we should not concentrate on the things that are not going with our desires but on those things that are in our favour, i.e. ‘not on the empty part of the cup but on the full part’, and realising that if you decide you are going to give up on something, you’ll never accomplish things you want to do in life. I truly believe that it is always easier to try again, as opposed to walking away from your dreams.
“Don’t be discouraged - It’s often the last key in the chain that opens the lock”
There are many people, even friends who want to see you fail, given that this makes their failures easy to take and justifiable. Know what your dream is, and realise you can do it... If someone had told Martin Luther King that one day the President of the United States would be black he would not have believed it. But Obama said, “YES WE CAN”. There are countless examples in the world that are role models in determination; people with disabilities who fought and conquered their disability and became successful in their own way. They have created opportunity in adversity. We should work towards winning the race and not just watching it. We should work towards success and remember that we have to build the way and find the channel to reach it. We should not wait for things to get worse, but try to make the worse as good as we can.
“Perseverance is a great element of success. If you knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, you are sure to wake up somebody” - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
We have to keep dreaming to achieve more; with a lot of faith, determination and belief in ourselves. When we do this everything becomes possible. Even if we are discouraged by reality we should keep trying and not think of how long we will keep trying. It is not bad to try and fail but worse, to cease trying. We should always continue trying and have the courage, without giving up.
“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up” - Thomas Edison
From my experience here are some tips on not giving up: 1. Be strong: have the will to move on “Fall seven times, stand up eight” Japanese proverb. 2. Believe in our dreams, as Obama said “yes we can” 3. Set realistic goals and take one step at a time 4. What does not break you makes you stronger 5. Keep an Open mind: alter some of your plans to adapt to circumstances
Please never give up. Believe in yourself and all that you want. Never giving up comes from motivating yourself through a positive attitude. The more you believe you can do something, the more likely you are to accomplish it, so keep dreaming and realize your dreams...
