Willpower and discipline, despite how important they are, are not the only keys to making challenging changes in our lives. The real power comes from inspiration. When people are inspired, they can accomplish almost anything. So the real motivation is to find out how to connect with what inspires us. We should always identify a purposeful reason for making the decision to make a change in our lives. One of the reasons that often awaken peoples’ inner strength is becoming healthy so that they don’t pass on their unhealthy lifestyle to their kids and loved ones; once we do so then one great reason for leading a healthy life will override 100 excuses to keep us from achieving our health goals.
It’s important for us to realize that losing weight is great of course but that’s not the end of the road and still not enough. We can actually lose weight and become unhealthier if we do it the wrong way, note that while losing body fat, some of that fat goes into the blood stream and may cause a rise in blood lipids for some people, so its crucial to combine a nutrition plan with a workout routine (could be a simple walk) to get rid of dissolved fat.
When people are inspired by a powerful reason, managing temptation becomes a whole lot easier. Unfortunately most people don’t really feel a strong sense of purpose when they start out on a fat-loss plan. That makes compliance extremely unlikely. One way to avoid such negative feeling is to take a “before photo” when starting a body transformation plan, put it on a piece of paper, and around the photo write down a dozen of words and/or phrases that describe what you are thinking of that person in the photo and how you want him/her to look like. We have to confront where we are to begin with, bottom line, we have to know where we stand, in order to know where to go.
Another thing that strengthens our inspiration is to connect with other people who are dedicated to making healthy changes in their lives, this is because supportive family and friends can help keep us accountable, they can remind us of the reasons that we told about why we decided to change our behavior from unhealthy to healthy, and they can give us support and encouragement to help us succeed.
Fat loss is very misunderstood. Supposed solutions focus only on the body as if it exists independent of mind and emotions. The real solutions and the deep motivations will be found by looking at the whole person.... mind, body, emotions and soul.
