Mobinil Vice President for Human Resources & Administration It is often said that greatness precedes some men, and they exude integrity and efficiency without saying a word - Sherif Hanna is precisely this man. In any of the HR roles he has held, he is known for successfully designing world class processes, developing talent and recruitment strategies, and building a strong HR Team.
Over the years, Hanna won prestigious global awards for his work in HR including the Chairman›s Award for Quality from American Express, and the Global Talent Sustainability Award from Pepsico International for launching world class HR projects.
Can you please give us a brief backgound on when you joined Mobinil as VP Human Resources and your previous experiences? I Joined Mobinil as Vice President for Human Resources and Administration in May 2011, and I’m currently holding the position of Chief People Officer and Chief Compliance Officer.
What is Mobinil’s strategy regarding Human Resources? As a strategic enabler to achieving Mobinil’s mission and vision, we thrive to be a desired place to work in, driven by passion, innovation and pride in the Mobinil brand.

This year we are focusing our efforts in three main areas: to engage and empower our people, as well as enhance our systems and processes to enable optimum performance.
What are the HR awards Mobinil has acquired in the past years and what is the latest one achieved? In an employer brand ranking survey by Universum, Mobinil was ranked in the fifth place among Egypt’s top employers for 2012 as considered by university students in Egypt. We are proud to belong to Orange Group, our international shareholder and key global telecom player, who has been officially recognized in Africa as an employer for 2013-2014 for implementing best practices across human resources policies and programs.
How does Mobinil assure best training programs to its employees? Our training and development programs are designed to prepare and equip our teams and leaders with best-in-class learning toolkits in various areas guided by our Competency Framework, focusing on people and business competencies. Our front liners (customer service, sales) members are trained in special academies using latest trends in customer experience, in addition to our specialized academies for other disciplines such as Human Resources, Marketing and others. Our Leadership Academy is tailored to our management team in line with our unique management culture. All new hires are provided with orientation training (Induction) about Mobinil to help them start their jobs. Customer Interface employees: Classroom induction; Non-customer Interface employees:
E-learning induction. We also provide a wide array of e-courses via Skill Soft available on the Internet featuring very rich content in several areas, which promotes self-learning and development. Mobinil is proud to be part of the global telecommunications leader Orange Group who support with number of training programs designed by Orange Campus training centers serving more than 170,000 employees around the world. In line with our responsibility towards the development of society, Mobinil collaborates with prominent Egyptian universities to fund educational programs for Egyptian youth under the umbrella of Mobinil Youth Foundation.
Kindly elaborate on Mobinil Youth Foundation and its achievements. As part of our belief that the youth are the real catalyst and the driving force of Egypt’s future and in order to support their skills development, Mobinil Youth Foundation was initiated in 2008 to support youth education and development, open career opportunities & equip youth with the required business skills that empower them for promising career paths. Since 2003, Mobinil has been partnering with Injaz Egypt in their Volunteerism program where Mobinilians deliver personal development classes in governmental & vocational schools, in addition to Injaz company competition. Moreover, Mobinil has been a major sponsor to Enactus (Formerly SIFE) since 2007. In Y2013, Mobinil sponsored 3892 student’s from38 universities and 178 projects Mobinilians also participate in the National competition as judges and league coordinators to select the best outreach project and winning team. Since 2010 Mobinil partnered with Nahdet El Mahrousa, to empower young researchers and bring innovative ideas to light especially in the field of information technology and telecommunications, by supporting projects through direct fund and in-kind benefits. Mobinil also partners with MECA - Ain Shams University; a student-to-student activity for developing engineering students.
Summer Internship Program – Mobistep: mainly designed to provide youth with a valuable experience that prepares them for the corporate world.
How does Mobinil support the employment of Egyptians? What is the average number of employees? Mobinil is home to more than 5,000 of the best calibers in Egypt in their fields.
