The Middle East Music Award ceremony is annually held to honor and praise the year’s most exceptional achievements within the music industry throughout the Middle East… The evening of Saturday May 26th at Cairo’s Concorde El Salam Hotel Heliopolis, marked the 5th consecutive year for DG’s highly praised occasion. Despite Egypt’s existing disconcerting vibes, the celebrities and guests attended, naturally the political discussion lingered throughout the air – nonetheless, the extravagant tradition of fashion continued to move forward. The event is recognized to support both professional and up-and-coming artists in achieving soaring performances and motivates them to discover and optimize the use of their positive influence on the younger generation. As always, it was a celebration of the year’s finest achievements. This year’s MEMA was a night to remember as the stars set out in full-force for the glitziest night of the season, as we delivered on our pledge of splendor a spectacular night of music and ostentation. Stars were out as the annual award night got underway – from the stunning gowns to the quintessential black suit and tie, see every detail of what made these stars own the red carpet on one of Cairo’s biggest nights. Read on as we share some of our favorite red carpet moments, and unveil every detail of what made the stars radiantly shine. Lebanese beauty Katia Kaady brought her grand grace and charm to host the 2011 MEMA by the awe-inspiring poolside, amidst the stunningly landscaped courtyard and colonial style hotel, beneath the clear moonlit sky. Mega icons Medhat Saleh and Hany Mehana were both given honor awards for their unyielding years of hard work in addition to having their valued judgment taken into account regarding this year’s winners. Mohamed El Helw, Michael El Masry and Bekheit Bayoumi all received honor award as a sign of notable recognition.

Egypt’s romance singer Rami Sabry was awarded this years MEMA Talent award, while Mohamed Khairy was delighted to receive his Encouragement award. Moroccan talent Tahra Hamimch, also known to have significantly shone throughout season 7 of Star Academy took home the award for Best Rising Female singer, while Syrian sweetheart Mohamed Bash, also remembered for firmly surviving 16 consecutive weeks of the 6th season of Star Academy took home the exact award in the male category. This year the male and female youth category award winners went to the adoring Amal Maher and patriotic Hamza Namira, for their influential melodies. Amal Maher’s ‘A3raf Menein’ took home an additional award after being selected album of the year. Winner of the Best Single award Loay, staged his charismatic song ‘Samaani Keda’, and encouragement awards went out to striking beauties, Rahma Riad and Yasmine Neyazi. The highly recognized Yasser Hassanein who is known for working with superstars including Mohamed Adaweya, MTM and Samo Zain was chosen as this years Best Music producer. While the incomparable Nader Abdallah regained his compound title as Best Poet.

Mohamed Sakr won Best Sound Engineer award for his amazing work, along with pioneering Tamer Ali who won his award for Best Composer. Another big winner was Adel Haqi who took home his award for Best Arranger for 2011. Megastar Wael Gassar was deservingly recognized as this years Best Male Singer and blew the audience away when he performed his award winning Motion Picture song ‘Nekhabi Leh’. And once more Sherine Abdel Wahab has clearly secured her place winning the award for Best Female singer throughout 2011. The dazzling Diana Karazon paraded on stage in her unconventional choice of gown to receive her best video clip award and perform her song ‘Kazeb Alaiya’.

While Best Song award went to Bahaa Sultan for his song ‘We Malna’. Passionate DJ, Khaled Hussein has steadfastly become one of the most esteemed names in the region won his award as MEMA’s Best DJ. The Best Song in the (sha3beya) category went to the agreeable talent Amr Al Saeed for his song ‘El Donia Zay El Morge7a’. The gorgeous Maya Diab and Rami Ayash won the award for the Best Duet throughout 2011 for their song “Neb2a Sawa”. Gigi Lamara has yet again proved himself to be one of the most talented and successful Artist managers within the Arabic Music Industry. This year he was voted MEMA’s Best Artist Manager for 2011.
