The world’s most captivating
presenters know better. They
carefully, painstakingly plan,
storyboard, script, design, and
rehearse their presentations like
an Oscar-winning Hollywood
director prepares their film for
the big screen. They’ve seen the
impact that a carefully crafted
story can have on influencing
an audience. According to
Dina Yehia -- DG’s Up Close
And Personal Interview this
issue, she believes that skipping
this crucial first step is what
separates average communicators
from extraordinary ones.
Who is Dina Yehia?
Well, I graduated from faculty of Arts, Alexandria University. I started
working afterwards at the MBC group. Dr. Ali Gaber chose me and
I must say that I owe him a lot. I was so honored to be chosen by
such a great man. He is MBC group manager and the Dean of Mass
Communication college, he is such a straight man and always looking
for talented people who really deserve to be on screen. After leaving
MBC group I moved to Al Mehwar channel where I found total
support and an understanding management. They always try to fulfill
the presenters’ needs and expectations. Moreover El Mehwar Channel
was the first Egyptian satellite channel and full of experienced people
and management that helped me a lot with my work. Nowadays I am
presenting “Soot El Naas” program and I think that it is an important
program and has a high viewership rate. I ultimately thank God for this
success and I always try to keep it up. On a more personal level I am a
Scorpion, and I believe I have a lot of Scorpion characteristics. I am a
strong, leading, and sort of ambiguous character. I am really ambitious
and never accept failure. My favorite sport is horse riding, and I love to
spend my free time with my family and friends. I love the sea, and the
happiest times of my life is during charity work.
How do you see the media nowadays?
I can tell you that the media nowadays is not at its best and not only
here inside Egypt but everywhere, I mean also the International media.
Everything is becoming too showy, without true and deep content. Most
of the presenters do not discuss any news neutrally, but they put their
touch and personal opinion and this is totally wrong. Media is supposed
to be about letting people know and everyone judge according to his/
her understanding. Presenters should not interfere and tell their personal
opinion; this should be off the screen.
What kind of programs do you like to present? I love charity work and love to present a big program to serve charity
purposes. At my current program I have a small section for charity work
and I really enjoy this part.
Any plans for acting? For now I don’t think so. I want to concentrate in what I am doing, and
succeed more. Media is my passion.
How do you keep yourself updated with everything around
you and keep up your success? I watch most of the programs, read everything that comes to my hands,
and follow social media. I read all the people’s comments on any case
or incident to get to know how people are thinking and where is the
mainstream going nowadays.
Are you optimistic about Egypt’s future? Of course I am, and so optimistic. My beloved Egypt will be back to
its true place. Everything will get better, we will have better education,
heath, traffic, everything will get better. We just need to work hard and
love Egypt.
