Two paintings by Omar Nagdy and Yehya Abu Hemeda found and returned by the Semiramis InterContinental. Have you ever found something truly amazing, returned it and felt great? Well the Semiramis InterContinental did… here is the story….
In a celebration ceremony Michael Koth, general manager Semiramis InterContinental handed over 2 amazing paintings found by the security team of the hotel. The painting were handed over to Dr. Ashraf Reda head of the Fine Arts Division, Ministry of Culture, The 2 paintings by renowned artists Omar El Nagdy and Yeha Abu Hemeda were found by the Semiramis InterContinental Security team in the surrounding area of the hotel during the events of the Egyptian Revolution on Friday, January 28 . The 2 paintings were amongst a 20 paintings collection that was displayed at the National Council of Women located within the National Party building on the Corniche and that was burnt down along with its content. The honoring ceremony was attended by Hesham El Essawi, Security and Government Relations Manager along with several department heads and executives. Members of the security team honored were: Amir Hassan, Thabet Hussein Thabet, Mohamed Abdul Aziz Abdul Ghani, Hisham Abdel Wahab Saleh, Mohammed Abdel Latif Eissa, and Mohamed Gharib Youssef. Congratulations for a job well done.

Marriott Egypt calling tourists back on a clean up day by the Pyramids of Giza
“We are calling you back to witness the making of Egyptian history.” This was Marriott Egypt associates’ call, from the top hill, at the Pyramids of Giza. A place which previously witnessed the birth of the world’s greatest civilization, and is currently witnessing a significant turn , in it’s history, was once again the venue for a clean up campaign by Marriott Egypt properties, in an attempt to support the come back of tourism to Egypt. Representing all the general managers of Marriott Hotels in Egypt, the group at the Pyramids was headed by Richard Zeolla, General Manager of the Cairo Marriott Hotel. Started at Cheops, the largest Pyramid, were Marriott Egypt associates were greeted and welcomed by members of the Antiquities Authorities. Armed with brooms, shovels and garbage bins, the participants thoroughly cleaned the main land around the pyramids. While working, they where cheered for and encouraged by tourists, souvenir sellers, as well as camels and horses owners, on the scene.

New Cooperation Agreement Between Saudi Egyptian Touristic Development Company, Owner Of Grand Hyatt Cairo And Ahli United Bank
The Saudi Egyptian Touristic Development company, owner of Grand Hyatt Cairo and Sheraton Hurghada held a press conference to announce the new cooperation agreement with Ahli United Bank for investments of $ 520 million US dollars externally and internally. Also a value of $ 55 million dollars is fully allocated to renovate Grand Hyatt Cairo in addition to increasing the capacity of the hotel with the largest and most luxurious suite in the Middle East on the 38th and 39th floors. Additional investment of $ 70 million US dollars is allocated to renovate the old hotel building (formerly Le Royal Meridien). Also a sum of US$ 200 million will be furnished upon request from a total of US$ 400 million when the formerly Sheraton Hurghada total area of land will be restored. The Conference was held at Akhnaton ballroom followed by lunch at Farhaty ballroom famous for its breathtaking views of the Nile. All attendees were impressed by the quality of service and the hospitality that was provided by Grand Hyatt Cairo’s team during this important event.

New Opening at Le Meridien Pyramids Hotel and Spa
Le Meridien Pyramids recently opened one of the largest swimming pools in the area to complement the existing main swimming pool, equipped with the highest levels of luxury and creativity including built-in sun beds overlooking great pyramids of Giza. “Egypt in our hearts” Italian delegation at InterContinental and Holiday Inn Citystars
InterContinental Cairo Citystars and Holiday Inn Cairo Citystars hosted all the participants of “Egitto Nel Cuore” (Egypt in our hearts campaign). The group comprised of 50 politicians, tour operators and journalists from Italy. The visit was organized by Egypt Tourist Authority in collaboration with Egypt Air and Misr Travel to encourage Italian tourists to resume their visits to Egypt. The visits’ portfolio included a press conference that was attended by Mr. Mounir Fakhry Abd El Nour, the Egyptian Minister of Tourism. The group also visited the Egyptian museum and Al Tahrir Square where they held a 40 meter long Egyptian flag to express their support to Egypt. The Italian delegation was headed by Mr. Roberto Corbella, ASTOI President and Mr. Alberto Corti, Director General Federviaggio, where top Italian media and press figures, travel agencies and tour operators enjoyed their lunch at the exceptional experience of the Nubian Village, in an ethnic oriental atmosphere on the Nile, while listening to the folkloric music of oriental takht. The Italian delegation was fascinated by their visit to the Egyptian Museum and the Pyramids, where they experienced the Egyptian genuine hospitality and warmth that was truly heart felt and they praised the quality of service and hospitality that was provided by Grand Hyatt Cairo’s team.

Andy Torres: Winner Of The First Stage Of The Mango Loves The Fashion Bloggers Project
In this first phase, the bloggers had to demonstrate their styling skills by creating 2 looks with the new MANGO collection. More than 17,000 fans of the brand voted in this first stage. The winner obtained 5,031 votes, followed by the Italian blogger, Chiara Ferragni with 4,671 votes. Andy Torres will receive 5,000 euros to donate to the NGO: Japanese Red Cross. The second stage will take place in mid-April and will consist of inviting each of the bloggers to a shopping night organised by MANGO in their respective countries. There they will be able to interact with customers and give them styling tips. Finally, a video featuring the images collected during the first two stages will be posted on the www.mango.com/fashionbloggersmicrosite on 26 April. At this point, fans of MANGO will be able to vote for the blogger they like best. The name of the winner will be announced on 3 May and will become the brand’s new It Girl for the Autumn/Winter 2011 season. The Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino was recently the residence of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon during his recent visit to Egypt as a part of a tour to North Africa. During his visit, Ban Ki-moon held a series of meetings with Egyptian authorities, civil society and youth groups discussing the possible support of the United Nations to Egypt in its transition phase. Earth Hour at the Cairo Marriott Hotel
Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar El Khayyam Casino participated with thousands of cities worldwide in celebrating Earth Hour this year. The event of switching off non-essential lights on the 26th of March of each year at 08:30 P.M. for one hour was aimed at promoting awareness globally to fight climate change and protecting the world’s natural resources. During Earth Hour 2011, Cairo Marriott Hotel dimmed all the principal lightings of the hotel and most of the hotel guests also joined in the event by switching off their room lights for an hour. To mark this climate change awareness cause; the hotel served an organic dinner at Tuscany Restaurant on that night. Samsung Announces New External Hard Drives with SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Interface
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, announced its new family of hard disk drives, including two portable drives and a desktop storage station. Supporting the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface, the new external hard drives can provide data transfer speeds of up to 5 gigabits per second, delivering a maximum 10-fold higher data transfer rate over the USB 2.0, allowing users to transfer a 25-gigabyte full HD movie in just four minutes. Samsung’s portable drives come in two designs, the entry-level M2 Portable and the premium C2 Portable 3.0. The M2 Portable comes with a wave-like matte finish that covers scratches and fingerprints, with curved sides for a comfortable grip. The drives are available in densities of up to 1 terabyte, USB 2.0/3.0 interface, and four colors: Brown Black, Noble Beige, Mist Gray and Clay Orange. The new external hard drives will be released in the second quarter of 2011 according to regional shipment schedules. The M2 Portable series will begin shipments from mid April and the C2 Portable and M3 Station are expected to be available in May.
