Dina Fouad

It’s not every day one gets to experience their life long dream come true. We had an exclusive opportunity to sit with Dina Fouad – The familiar face to many of the successful, recent productions to hear her story on life, expectations and destiny…

Who is Dina Fouad?
A very simple, person who loves acting a lot and wanted to prove her talent, and thanks to god people loved me and this truly encouraged and inspired me to go on. I am a romantic Leo who loathe hatred and jealousy and loves simplicity and clarity. I have a five years old daughter, who is the love of my life.

How did you start acting?
I was a TV presenter at El Hurra channel. I used to present a political-social program about all the problems we are facing in life. And once I had a guest who knew about my love for acting and how I wished to act with the great Nour El Sherief, so he called him for me and Mr. Nour asked to see me for audition and I was accepted for my first role in El Dali series and from there I started.

How do you choose your roles?
If I like a role I ask my family and close friends. Ilike to consult others but at the end it is my choice and feeling.

How do you deal with rumors?
Silence, is my way. Maybe I explain to my family and close friends the truth about it. And I just keep working.

Which role did you accept and perform and was certain about receiving an award for it, but you didn’t?
My role in El 3ar series, I did something completely different and new to me in this series. The villain girl, who is greedy, ambitious and full of contradictions. It was a difficult role and I expected an award for it from Dear Guest festival, and it didn’t happen but at the same time I had other awards from other votes which of course made me happy.

How do you feel after receiving your award for your role in Khoutot Hamra series at the Dear guest festival for this year?
Extremely happy, I always wanted this award and was thrilled about it this year.

What about Cinema in your career, only three movies and a lot of TV series, why is that?
My first role in cinema was in Helm El Omr movie and it was a big and important role, so I always compare any new role to this one and this puts me in a difficult corner as it is not easy to find comparable roles. In addition we all know about the cinema crisis nowadays and how we don’t have a lot of movie productions. I don’t want to play any role only for the sake of being present. I try to be selective.

Who do you like mostly from your colleagues?
Mona Zaki, Ghada Adel, Yasmine Abdel Aziz, they are both big superstars and deserve the place they reached. I also like to talk about the success that Ghada Abdel Razek achieved. She is number one in all the votes for this year.

What do you think about the future of art and acting after the current incidents and especially after Elham Shahin’s case?
Nothing, I am not afraid at all, on the contrary I am so happy about what Elham Shahin did and how she won her case and stood bravely in front of all the ignorance and by the way what she did was for all of us. She is a very strong character and I truly admire her.

What do you think about?
Turkish Drama; I love it. They are too good. Accusing the media for being corrupted; no I don’t think so, for example some people always attack Lamis El Hadidy but I find her talking like me, she says what I want to say and hear. They don’t forge facts, they bring both opinions and broadcast the facts live audio and video without changing anything. They are not the inventors of what is happening nowadays.

Tell us about?
Helm El Omr; I love this movie; it is a great production and a mark in the cinema. It was a very good step for me and for Hamada Helal. It is also a mark in El Sobky's history.
El Dali: It’s how I was introduced to people. I was so lucky to perform this role as it took me from one world to another world.
El 3ar: A new move and a different, yet complicated role.
Keed El Nesaa: This role is very close to my heart, I feel that Amina is similar to me in many ways to the extent that sometimes I felt that I am not acting and this is my real family.
Adam: The right role in the right time.

What was your most remembered memory in 2012?
Unfortunately, my worst memory – which was in 2012, it was my father’s death. It was a very difficult year for me by all means.

What are your hopes and expectations for 2013?
To succeed in my new role “EL Zoga El thania’ and not to be compared with the great Soad Hosny.

A final word ,,
I wish for Egypt all the best. May GOD save our beloved Egypt...
