Semiramis InterContinental team celebrates Earth Hour... Semiramis InterContinental lowers energy consumption for one hour to support Earth Hour

For one full hour, the Semiramis InterContinental stood on the banks of the river Nile in darkness only illuminated with candle light. Participating in a global climate change initiative that was initiated in 2007 by World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the Semiramis InterContinental showed their support for the planet by switching off all lights in public areas, inviting guests to part take in the event and raising awareness through posters and word of mouth. Guests enjoyed candle lit dinners in both Pane Vino & the Grill restaurants with a chance to win a romantic weekend getaway for two.

Orphans day at Porto Sokhna Beach Resort & Spa

On the orphan day April 6th 2012, Porto Sokhna Beach Resort & Spa invited Helwan Charity committee orphans to spend the day where 50 orphans aged between 6–18 years old had fun enjoying the beautiful nature of Porto Sokhna Mountain and live the cable car experience. Thus to give back to the community, they were provided with toys, T-shirts and lunch to make them happy. The children had fun, played all around, and enjoyed the musical concert which was held at the Roman Theater and were cheerful in such a place with such loving and caring people. Finally, this event purpose was to let them feel part of the society as much as one can be. Earth Hour at Sonesta Hotel Cairo

Sonesta Hotel Tower & Casino Cairo participated in the Earth Hour event on Saturday the 31st of March by switching off the lights in the Reception area and Restaurants. Marriott Egypt Hotels join hands with “Care with Love” and “Friends of Children with Cancer”

As part of Marriott’s “Spirit To Serve Our Communities” Culture, Marriott Hotels in Egypt recently signed a partnership agreement with “Care with Love” and “Friends of Children with Cancer”. The agreement came to reassure Marriott Egypt Hotels’ commitment for action with The Clinton Global Initiative through supporting their Health and Hope Oasis project, which is Egypt’s first center to provide holistic approach to support children with cancer and their families while in the treatment phase. In 2011, Care with Love, in partnership with Friends of Children with Cancer, committed to create the “Health and Hope Oasis” in Egypt to host and support children with cancer and their families throughout the duration of medical treatment, during which time most patients must live away from their homes. The center will ensure consistent and timely access to high quality medications for all children, while raising awareness among parents and families of the importance of completing medication courses, safe hygienic practices, and appropriate nutrition during recovery. HHO will also provide temporary employment and volunteer opportunities for parents in residence at the center. The Health and Hope Oasis will serve approximately 5,000 children over the course of two years, with the goal of significantly improving cancer survival rates among children in Egypt. In view of this partnership agreement, Marriott Egypt Hotels will seek every opportunity to support the HHO activities on all levels. “Read Aloud” A campaign leading Egypt Children’s Literacy @ Sheraton Montazah Hotel

In cooperation with Readaloud.org, Sheraton Montazah Hotel Alexandria has joined its campaign aiming to enhance children literacy in Africa. The Hotel has invited school children to participate in the activity which was both literal and entertaining. More than 60 children from primary of Sidi Gaber Language school and San Mark College have participated in the event which included presenting a story through a puppet show, reading it live on a screen and discussing it with the children to enable them understand its moral. The story was also to stimulate their imagination and let them draw what they learned on a paper expressing their different views and perceptions. “Lead Aloud” day was concluded by giving each child a book to read individually followed by a lunch meal and an entertaining DJ party.
