Magdi Yacoub at the Royal Suite of the Cairo Marriott Hotel
The Cairo Marriott Hotel and Omar El Khayyam Casino hosted the second meeting for ‘Aswan Heart Centre’, which is accredited by the European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology.The meeting was organized by ‘ICOM’ under the patronage of a number of scientific organizations specialized in this field, and was held in Aida Ballroom under the title ‘Familial Heart Muscle Disease’. Scientific Course Director was the Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub the prominent and leading heart surgeon and the 2nd world surgeon who succeeded in heart transplant surgery, Lectures also were delivered by Professor Eugene Braunwald, professor of cardiac surgery and writer of world scientific books. Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub was welcomed by Richard Zeolla, Hotel General Manager and Omar Tantawy, Resident Manager during the conference. The conference focused on numerous discussions on the latest scientific achievements in the field of Genetic Heart Diseases.The conference opening session was attended by H.E. Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna had the honour to welcome HE Rupiah Bwezani Banda, President of Zambia and his family for a short private visit. Following an Official State Visit to Cairo, President Banda took the opportunity to have a leisurely break with his family at the Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna. On arrival the delegation was welcomed by an Oriental dance show and then enjoyed a lunch at the Resort’s beachside oriental and seafood restaurant ‘El Sayadin’. During their visit, among other things, they went deep sea fishing and enjoyed an extensive tour of El Gouna seeing all of its many different attractions including a visit to the Winery. They celebrated New Year’s Eve in the Resort’s magnificent Marquee with all the other guests. Radisson Blu Sharm is always ahead

Another Egyptian victory in Paris-Dakar Rally (Africa-Race 2011)
“Mido” won first place for the diesel for the second year in a row. “Mido” achieved fourth place overall among the world champions.... Egypt has accomplished a new historical achievement in the desert rally with the great results of the Egyptian heroes participating in the race “Africa 2011”, which lasts for 14 days, held in the period from the 29th of December 2010 to the 9th of January 2011. The race included 12 stages for speed and reached a total length of more than six thousand miles. The Egyptian team –led by Mido and his assistant Mahmoud Nour AL Din- succeeded to win the first place for the diesel engines andcame 4th in the general final ranking. The rally started from France and passed the countries of Morocco, Mauritania and finally Senegal and ends at Dakar. The Egyptian team –which participated with a car model Rally Ride Desert Warrior- succeeded in ending the race in the fourth place as same as the last year but the only difference is that year they were competing with 30 cars Including a number of experienced and world champions in rallying the desert and the Dakar Rally.

The trip started by two nights at the Sofitel Winter Palace Luxor & Pavillon Hotel whereby the whole team was welcomed by Christian Ruge the General Manager of the hotels. Afterward the team moved to Aswan for an orientation tour to the Sofitel Legend Old Cataract, which is currently under intensive renovations and expected to be re-opened by May 2011 to be the first Legend Hotel in the Middle East & the third one worldwide. Kempinski Nile Hotel Launches “Project Clean Street”
As part of its community interaction and support programs, Kempinski Nile Hotel took the initiative to clean the neighboring streets. A team from the hotel management and employees lead by General Manager Fuat Koroglu set out and united their skills while cleaning and beautifying the streets of Garden City. This initiative is part of Kempinski’s constant efforts to support its neighbors and Egyptian community by keeping the City clean of trash and over grown lots. Kempinski Nile Hotel employees were delighted to oversee and participate in the project to beautify Cairo through the removal of unsightly trash from public properties and street cleaning. “Enhancing our local economy and workforce through this positive work experience, is the guiding principal behind this initiative.” says Mr Koroglu. “The project‘s goal is creating pride and enrichment among our neighborhood through beautification/ clean-up projects within the City.
