Nestlé Egypt celebrates completion of the expansion of Dolce High School in Baraguil, Giza in partnership with the Ministry of Education
Nestlé Egypt is proud to announce that the expansion of Dolce High School in Baraguil, Giza has been completed ahead of schedule. The project included renovation of old classrooms and the construction of new facilities, including an additional floor. The project, implemented in cooperation with Ministry of Education, is set to provide students with a more dynamic learning environment and to boost their creativity. In line with its core aim to create value for the society in which it operates and to develop responsible partnerships, Nestle Egypt has contributed to the expansion of the school including renovation of classrooms and other required constructions.
Furthermore, the company is supporting the building of an additional complete floor in Dolce Secondary School located in Baraguil village, Giza. These expansions were approved and supervised by the General Authority for Educational Buildings to ensure that students’ needs were a priority during the refit and with a view to provide the best conditions for students during the educational process.
Minister of Education, Dr. Mahmoud Abul Nasr, Swiss Ambassador, Dominque Verger, Ministry of Education Under-Secretary, Dr. Ali Al Alfy, and Nestlé Egypt Chairman and CEO, Suresh Narayanan, were guests of honor at the inauguration ceremony marking the momentous occasion. During the event, Dr. Nasr said: “We are proud of such a meaningful project, which was the result of co-operation between the Ministry of Education and Nestlé Egypt. Our goal is to provide students with an educational environment that fosters creative pursuits and innovation, qualities that will contribute to the development of our youth. The ministry is keen to form similar partnerships with other private enterprises to promote Egypt’s education sector, which serves as a pillar of any developed nation.”

 The European project Shmile 2 aims to spread eco-labels to tourist accommodation services in the Mediterranean, particularly in six countries: Egypt, Italy, France, Jordan, Greece and Tunisia. Visit by our correspondent from the European Neighbourhood Info Centre to the only hotel in Alexandria to have obtained an environmental certificate.A place once frequented by spies, diplomats and Greek ship-owners…This is part of a series of features on projects funded by the EU’s Regional Programme, prepared by journalists and photographers on the ground or the EU Neighbourhood Info Centre. «Environmental measures are a marketing tool for our hotel in the long term. Because all over the world, customers are increasingly opting for environment-friendly hotels. Very soon, the ecolabel will be a selection criterion for guests; it will be like ISO standards in industry» says Nabil Kahil, manager of the Cecil hotel in Alexandria (Egypt) in a feature prepared by the EU Neighbourhood Info Center on ShMILE 2 (De l’expérimentation à la diffusion de l’Ecolabel en Méditerranée - From the experimentation to the diffusion of the Ecolabel in the Mediterranean).
This standard project, running since January 2012, aims to reduce the environmental footprint of tourist accommodations through the diffusion of the European Ecolabel in six countries of the Mediterranean: Egypt, Italy, France, Jordan, Greece and Tunisia. Mr. Kahil participated in a workshop held in Nice (France) in November 2012 to share his experience on the benefits of eco-friendly hotel management with other tourism professionals taking part in ShMILE 2 project. Use of special cleaning and hygiene products, reduction of energy and water consumption, generation of low quantities of waste, use of renewable energy sources are amongst the numerous advantages of the Ecolabel described in the feature « Hotel are going green too».

 The Koueider family brought you the first Oriental sweets shop in Egypt back in 1928.
