If she thinks it, she’ll say it. If she feels it,
she’ll share it, and if she dreams it, she’ll most
probably do it...Egyptian superstar Sherine Abdel
Wahab exclusively talks to DG about music,
awards, acting, motherhood and maturing into a
real woman…
First of all, congratulations to all the prizes you won lately, and secondly,
what does it mean to you?
It means a lot to me, especially if the
prize is coming from the people’s
vote. You feel like all the hard work
was appreciated.
How do you choose your songs? Well, I receive a lot of songs from
writers and composers, and I consult
my team work and choose accordingly.
I’ll only consider a song if I truly feel
it.
The Voice program, what does it mean to you? It means a lot to me, because I felt so
near to my audiences and fans during
the voice program. I just love this
show a lot.
What about acting, any news? I am shooting a series for next
Ramadan, and that’s all I can say.
I don’t like to talk about my work
before I finish it. I will talk about it
after you watch it and judge it. I hope
people will like it because I am doing
my best - I ask God to help me to
succeed in this experience as it is very
important to me.
What about politics and the role of the
artist in politics? We all have to work for Egypt’s sake,
everyone in his/her field. If I got the
chance to meet President El Sisi I will
talk to him about the old people and
their pensions, and to give them more
care. I am also ready to hold any free
event for their sake.
Talk to us about your family and lovely
daughters, and if you have to choose
between your work and family, what
would be your choice? Well my daughters and family are the
most important thing in my life. They
are my backbone. I rely on them in
everything. They are the main source
of my happiness. And I am sure that I
will never reach a point of choice as
I give everything my best and know
how to manage my time - my mother
helps me with that.
We knew that Yasser Khalil is your consultant and
business manager, and that your work together was
a great success, but what if you want something and
totally convinced about and he doesn’t approve? We talk and talk until we reach the right decision, but
sometimes we take very long time in argument.
What would you like to say at the end? First to President El Sisi, I wish to meet you and
discuss a lot of things. And second to my fans, I
love you so much and I work hard for your sake, to
produce successful songs to meet your expectations.
I follow all your comments on the social media and
am so pleased with it. I wish you will like my role in
the new series as you like me in singing. And finally,
I would like to thank the MEMA, my team work and
my fans for supporting me all the way.
