Edward A True Comedian: He’s young, he’s smart and right now he’s everyone’s favourite funny guy...

Can you tell us more about Edward the person?
My name is Edward Badr Edward, born on December 8th, in Cairo. My father used to work in the tourism industry and he used to love music so much and that was transferred to me and so I studied music for two years in Italy. I am married with two kids; Marco and Maria.

People say that Edward is a true comedian but can’t be a super star, what do you think about that?
Well, I agree - because I am so strong where I am now and excel at it.

In your opinion who is the super star of the Egyptian Cinema nowadays?
Ahmed Ezz.

In your opinion - who is the best comedian actor and actress?
Ahmed Helmy and Yasmin Abdel Aziz.

Why haven’t we see Edward in any comedian plays other than Sokar Hanem?
Well, I did but outside Egypt and here I am waiting for the good papers. I truly love theatre; it is an enjoyment for any actor to be on stage.

Are you planning to play action roles?
I don’t like such kind of roles but maybe if I get good papers I would consider this.

What do you think about professional jealousy and failure?
I don’t feel this kind of jealousy, I feel happy when I see anyone of my colleagues in a good role. And I hate failure and never look behind my back, I always look forward and try to reach more success.

Moving to politics as now it became part of our lives, what would you have done if Muslim Brotherhood would have continued ruling Egypt and prohibited Cinema?
I think I would have killed myself but never think of leaving Egypt.

Whom are you going to vote for in the upcoming presidential elections?
My voice is for CC for sure.

What makes you cry and what is your biggest fear?
I might cry when I watch a touchy cinematic scene. And I fear nothing as everything is in God’s hand.

How do you handle your female fans?
Well all my fans are from the children.

What do you do in your free time?
I love to play “Tawla” and smoke hookah.

What would you like to say at the end?
I would like to tell my mother that she is the blessing of my life, and her prayers always support me -- And to my beloved Egypt I wish you all the best and always be safe.
