Cairo Marriott Hotel Runs For Cure
The Cairo Marriott Hotel recently participated in the “Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure” that took place on October 24th at the Pyramids area and was organized by the Breast Cancer Foundation of Egypt. Twelve volunteers from the hotel ran the 1.5 Km race that aimed to raise awareness about a health issue that affects thousands of deserving women in Egypt. The hotel’s volunteers commented that they were very proud to part take in the race, which they considered as an opportunity to make a difference in the fight against cancer. A new general manager appointed for Mövenpick Resort Aswan
Josef Kufer, Senior Vice President of the Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Africa division, announced the appointment of Aladin Bustani as the resort new general manager which went to effect immediately. Being half Egyptian and half Italian and a graduate of Business Administration from Webster University in Geneva with also an MBA degree in marketing from Cavendish Belford College in London, Bustani has invested extensive years in the hospitality industry in several different countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Eight teams of young chefs below the age of 35 accompanied by three waiters per team competed in the occasion of International Chefs Day. The teams received a black box full of surprise ingredients a day before the gala competition event and had exactly one hour to compose a four-course menu to be submitted to the judges. The event really put the chefs in the limelight as the stars of the evening. The talent and creativity of the Conrad team was topped by the collective effort and the team spirit. The teams were judged by an international culinary panel on taste, skill creativity and artistic merit. InterContinental Hotels Group Egypt officially signed the management partnership between the group and Alex West; the new suburb of 600 acres on a virgin land overlooking Marriot Lake, a 10 minutes drive to the west of Alexandria. Total investment for the whole project is two thousand million Egyptian pounds. Alex West has three residential villa zones, a commercial recreational zone, “Alexandrina”, where there are five star hotels, shopping mall, hypermarket and a cinema complex. A Convoy of 17 Egyptian Harley Davidson Riders Participate in the “Ride Safe and Have Fun” Campaign in Lebanon
With the dawn of the 29th of September, a convoy of 17 motorcycles started a journey to Lebanon, driving through Jordan and Syria in a campaign launched by the Harley Davidson Owners Association entitled “Ride Safe and Have Fun”. Participating in the campaign were 282 Harley motorcycle owners, representing a number of different nations across the world including Egypt, Oman, Lebanon, Syria, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait, as well as a number of foreign expatriates living in Lebanon. This initiative comes as part of the celebrations surrounding the launch of the first Harley Davidson Owners Association tour in Lebanon, an event that encompassed three days and which aims to promote the notions of safe and fun driving. This tour helped change the common perception that fun has to be reckless and impulsive, and the Harley motorcycle riders proved without a doubt that true fun is the complete opposite of reckless driving. The journey by the Harley Davidson-Egypt convoy took approximately ten days, and covered almost 2909 kilometers of land in Arab countries. The convoy rode their motorcycles both to Lebanon and back to Egypt and didn’t ship them, unlike the other participating countries.

Marriott International (NYSE:MAR) has signed an agreement with Sao Sang Nha Trang Co. Ltd. that will result in the opening of its first deluxe Marriott Hotels & Resorts-branded hotel in Vietnam in 2013 and its fifth property in the country. Construction is expected to start by year-end. Foremost among these was environmental activist Al Gore, former Vice President of the US, and founder and chair of the “Alliance for Climate Protection”, who delivered the keynote address. Activities included a “Clean up campaign’” in down town Cairo and inviting renowned acting legend Omar El Sharif to join Jurgen Baumhoff, general manager Semiramis InterContinental and employees in planting a tree in the hotel garden dedicated to the people of Cairo . Iberotel Miramar Al Aqah Beach Receives the Emirates Culinary Guild Medals
The U.S. Dairy Export Council, in collaboration with the U.S. Agricultural Trade Office in Dubai and the Emirates Culinary Guild, held U.S. cheese workshops and competition in Dubai. These workshops were aimed at familiarizing chefs with the U.S. cheese varieties and their versatile applications. The work shops and the final competition were attended by more than 45 chefs from various countries including Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Oman. All attendees participated in first-hand observation, handson experimentation and recipe preparation using different varieties of U.S. cheeses. Iberotel Miramar Al Aqah Beach Executive Chef, chef Prasad and his Junior Chefs prepared a variety of attractive dishes all based on U.S. cheeses which won several awards.
