Although HTC is No 1 in mobile new technology it still doesn’t have enough market shares? In HTC we had a few great devices with a lot of innovation in technology and camera and sound specifications, but we just need to let people know all of these HTC innovations. So we are introducing the new hero phone (HTC One) and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. The device that makes people search for it. Besides we will introduce nice marketing campaigns to create the suitable awareness regarding our hero device.
What is different in HTC ONE? HTC has added an “UltraPixel” camera that comes with a program called Zoe that “gives people the ability to shoot high-resolution photos that come to life in three-second snippets” and that “automatically creates integrated highlight films from each event… set to music with professionally designed cuts, transitions and effects.” HTC is also emphasizing its new BlinkFeed interface, which HTC says “transforms the home screen into a single live stream of personally relevant information such as social updates, entertainment and lifestyle updates, news and photos with immersive images so that people no longer need to go to separate applications to find out what’s happening.”
On that topic, who is the person who buys HTC over Apple or Samsung? Why would they opt for HTC over the others? The people who buy HTC appreciate innovation, love the design, they love the user experience, and have an emotional preference for innovative experiences. The user experience is actually very bold — bold is in fact of the main characteristics of HTC. So we are offering this bold experience and we strongly believe consumers will engage with things like HTC BlinkFeed, our unprecedented music experience, and Zoe photos.
What do you prefer as a Mobile operating system? "Windows phone or android" People like differentiation and there’s no one thing that everybody’s the same. HTC have wonderful partnership with Google that introduce to us the most popular Operating system over the world, also HTC have a great partnership with Microsoft from a long time. We, as a HTC, would like to remain openminded and offer people the choice to decide what they want.
Is the tablets business not significant for HTC in the future? For sure we are interested in tablets, but from my point of view, HTC need to figure out how we can differentiate a tablet product with HTC signature to be matching with HTC concept as market leader in product innovation. Also we announced that we will introduce bigger screens in 2013. This means we will introduce some devices bigger than (HTC one) more than 4.7 inch. Who knows???
What is new in HTC marketing activities in 2013? We will drive a little more our own advertising approach to make sure that HTC will drive our own brand awareness and preference. That’s one of the things that we think that we need to be improving. Remember, HTC has only been around since 2007, and it has since become one of the recognized names in the world. We’re aware that we’re a young company. We are still learning. We still have more challenges.
What about the new partnership between HTC and UEFA? UEFA has reached an agreement with HTC for the global technology innovator to become the official mobile phone and tablet computer of both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. The three-year deal will run until the end of the 2014/15 season, and also includes an association with the UEFA Super Cup, the UEFA Women’s Champions League final and the UEFA Futsal Cup finals.
What is the importance behind this partnership? As Peter Chou (HTC CEO) said, “Football elicits so much passion around the world, so we are very excited to be able to enhance fans ability to enjoy two of the game’s biggest club competitions.”
