New Resident Manager for the Hurghada Marriott Red Sea Resort
Wael Amer, formerly Resident Manager of Taba Heights Marriott, has been appointed as the new Resident Manager of Hurghada Marriott Beach Resort - Red Sea, Egypt effective December 1, 2011. The announcement was made by Sameh El Garf, General Manager; Hurghada Marriott Red Sea Resort Egypt. In assuming this new assignment, Wael celebrates the 23rd year of his career with Marriott International and his responsibilities include driving hotel›s business results; identifying and implementing ongoing operational improvement to enhance product and service quality; developing and implementing annual community relation activities that support the corporate strategy and respond to Hurghada city. The Hurghada Marriott Beach Resort is a located on the shore of the Red Sea, featuring 283 fully equipped sea front rooms and suites. The hotel property has its own private beach and private island. It also has two swimming pools, 24 hours room service, discotheque, health club, tennis courts and squash courts. Guests will be delighted to taste the delectable cuisines at the hotel›s Italian restaurant - Tuscany, Patio Café, Pool bar & Grill and the main restaurant. With Marnet Internet café and meeting room for 10-120 people, the Hurghada Marriott is equipped with conference facilities.

Jean-Francois Gouvrit Appointed New General Manager Of The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm El Sheikh
Veteran hotelier Jean-Francois Gouvrit is the new general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm El Sheikh, announced Pascal Duchauffour, area vice-president, Europe and Middle East of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company L.L.C. Mr. Gouvrit brings a wealth of expertise cultivated over more than 15 years in hotel management within Asia and Europe. A French national, Mr. Gouvrit is responsible for all operations and sales of the 320-room beachfront resort located on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula. Before joining The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm El Sheikh, Mr. Gouvrit was the general manager for the 244-room Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul which was voted in 2009 as the “Best Overseas Business Hotel” by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller. Mr. Gouvrit began his hotel career with Kokusai 21 Hotel, Nagano, Japan in 1992 as a banquet waiter and working his way to an appointment as the Maitre D’hôtel and technical advisor at Takanawa Price Hotel, Tokyo, Japan. His experience in Japan led him to consecutive leadership roles in the food and beverage divisions at The Ritz Carlton hotels in Osaka, Shanghai and Singapore. Mr. Gouvrit was later appointed consulting and executive assistant manager of food and beverage at La Maison in Shanghai and The Leela Palace in Bangalore, India (a Kempinski affiliate.)

Semiramis InterContinental Chefs win bronze medals at HACE competition
Semiramis InterContinental chefs team won the second place and the bronze medal at the Annual Hotel Trade Fair “HACE” culinary competition that was organized by the Egyptian Group for Marketing. Ten of our best chefs participated and competed in culinary skills and culinary arts. Chef Mohamed El Saadawy, winner of second place in International culinary competition for last year, trained the team. Congratulations for Mohamed Selim, Mohamed Farahat Ahmed and Shaaban Hosny for winning bronze medals. Congratulations for all who received certificates and for Semiramis InterContinental Cairo for supporting such a great team. Dusit Thani LakeView Cairo names Khaled Saleh Mahmoud as EAM Sales & Marketing. Reporting to the hotel manager Mahmoud is tasked with leading the hotel’s leisure, corporate and banquet sales efforts as well as overseeing all partner and product marketing activities. He will also be heavily involved in the operational aspects of the hotel working closely with the hotel manager Ahmed El Hady. Mahmoud brings more than 25 years experience to this new role starting his career with giants such as Sheraton Hotels & Resorts and Holiday Inn. In 2002 Mahmoud joined Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in Egypt as director of sales and marketing moving on to an area director of sales and marketing role with InterContinental Hotels and Resorts shortly afterwards. Most recently Mahmoud has been focusing on a career in operations combined with his passion for sales and marketing taking on the role of resident manager with the Melia Sinai Sharm El Sheikh and the Savoy Sharm El Sheikh. Association competition on individual and team basis.. Known for its Food and
