She is the talented face of the highly successful LBC show ‘Star Academy’ Season 4, the girl with a passion for singing that no one can deny. Her infatuation with performance goes way back to childhood. Her dynamic energy touched the lives of many young Arabs across the Middle East. Marwa Ben Sagheir sits down with DG for an exclusive interview on love, life and the pursuit of music…

Who are you?
Just Marwa Ben Sagheir, a normal Tunisian girl who adores singing.

Had you ever anticipated winning two awards such as the Dear Guest Award, and the MEMAWARD in one year?
Of course I didn’t. It was the most pleasant surprise I ever had. I wish I could win these awards every year.

What are your expectations about your future after winning these two awards?
I wish I could find a good production company to launch a true
professional career.

What do you think about the talent programs that most channels are presenting nowadays?
If it is a good program, it makes you achieve quick stardom and fame.

What do you think about artistic jealousy?
If it is healthy it gives you a boost and makes you better but the most important thing is to stay away from envy.

What are your memories about star academy?
I’ll never forget those memories; those times were just great, my beginnings and my friends.

And your childhood memories, tell us about those?
They were such sweet and innocent memories. My childhood was so happy.

What is your favorite hobby?
I love shopping, watching Indian movies, and travelling.

What are your best and worst qualities?
I am spontaneous and so kind - but very nervous.

What is your favorite place?
The studio, it is my safe sanctuary.

What do you mostly like about fame?
The love… to feel that you are loved.

And what do you hate most about fame?
The fact that you are constantly under a microscope which monitors all your actions, and the pressure – it’s exhausting.

Yessssss

Who is your knight in shining armor? Would you rather him to be a singer too? Hmmm, someone who absolutely loves and respects Marwa Ben Sagheir. And quite frankly, I don’t mind if he is a singer or anything else - it is all about fate and destiny. Who keeps your secrets? No one, I keep my secrets to myself. Someone you miss a lot? My mother, I really miss her a lot. Who is your idol in singing? The Great Fayrouz. Who are your favorite female singers? Shereen Abel Wahab, Elissa and Carol Samaha. Whom would you like to sing a duet with? Saber El Rebea3y. I love him. Which series did you watch this Ramadan? El Sahroura and El Rayan.

Do you have any acting plans?
Yes, but only if I can find an excellent script.

Briefly describe what each of these words mean to you?
The Mother: the most important thing in our life.
Betrayal: a very difficult feeling that makes you lose confidence in everything.
Love: a beautiful feeling that can make us so happy.
Art: it is my life
