NEW DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS JOINS RAMSES HILTON

Haitham Nassar, Ramses Hilton General Manager, has recently appointed Rogier Van Zanten to the position of Director of Operations at Ramses Hilton. Originally from Netherlands, Rogier Van Zanten joins Ramses Hilton with 16 years of international experience, of which seven are with Hilton hotels Worldwide. He has held several managerial positions in the fields of Front Office, Sales, Marketing and Food & Beverage. His most recent position was Director of Operations at Hilton Warsaw Hotel & Convention Centre in Poland. “This is my first placement in this region and I am looking forward to lead the Team in the Ramses Hilton and continue the road of excellence that the hotel is known forî said Rogier.

It was a great honor for Ramses Hilton to receive the marine pilot, Sherif Bakhaty, during his stay at the hotel. He was sailing the Aida boat 4 during the famed Suez Canal opening ceremony. He was welcomed to the hotel by Rogier Van Zanten Director of Operations, Alaa Awad Director of Finance and a number of department managers.

Ramses Hilton Celebrates the New Suez Canal Opening

As part of the Egyptian celebrations for the Grand Opening of the New Suez Canal which is due to open today 6th August 2015, Ramses Hilton Team has organized a special celebration for the hotel guests and the Team members. The ceremony took place at the hotel lobby, where a big screen was displayed projecting documentary films about Suez canal, welcome drinks and delicious treats were offered to all the hotel guests, Egyptian flags were distributed, pictures, video as well as TV channels were covering the event. The event was well received by our Guests and greatly enjoyed by the team members and everyone got to dance to the country’s most famous patriotic songs.

The Cairo Marriott celebrates the New Suez Canal... Where it all began

Built as a Palace to host royalties for the opening of the original Suez Canal back in 1869, for the Gezira Palace, of what is now the Cairo Marriott Hotel, the New Suez Canal opening was such a special occasion to celebrate where it all began. The Palace was built by Khedive Ismail to host Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III and guest of honor for the original Suez Canal celebrations.

Today, almost 150 years later, the celebrations at the Cairo Marriott were all inspired by the glory and connection the Palace has with the original canal tale. To mark this special moment in Egyptian history and in tribute to the Suez Canal, a series of engaging promotional activities were put together.

Every corner in the hotel, be it outdoor or indoor, was meant to reflect the historical significance and celebrate the achievement. Driving through Cairo streets, you would not miss the two banners on the twin towers with both the New Suez Canal and #Activ8Egypt logos. Each banner 50m x 5m was a token of celebration to invite guests to step in and join the remaining festivities within the hotel. #Activ8Egypt is Marriott International initiative launched to emphasize its commitment to revive tourism in Egypt. What a better occasion to highlight than Egyptians National pride project of the New Suez Canal opening.

Getting inside of the Palace, guests were greeted by a specially designed photo booth depicting the old Place and original canal digging and the current Palace and the New Suez Canal. Guests all stopped by the booth to capture and document their participation in such a glorious and special occasion. All was done in a festive atmosphere with national music playing and refreshing welcome drinks served.

Proud of their heritage and their national project, associates of the Cairo Marriott were present in their caps with both The New Suez Canal and the Cairo Marriott logos on it.

To top it all, the Cairo Marriott was honored to host the farewell dinner for the official international media delegation covering the New Suez Canal opening. Arriving at the hotel, they were welcomed by Hans Georg Roehrbein, General Manager, Ghada Abdel Khalek, Director of Marketing Communications and the hotel Marketing team. They were then escorted on a tour of the Palace where the tale began. The media representatives expressed their fascination of the Palace décor and history going around taking pictures and videos. A reception was held at Salon Royal followed by dinner at Eugenie Salon were the perfect scenario for a take back in history when the original opening of the canal took place. Starting with a documentary video on the story of the Palace and the Suez Canal, guests were dazzled and appreciative of both the venue and the heritage. The culinary delights presented for dinner and the live tunes of the orchestra were the great finale to take back home as an unforgettable experience of Egypt and the Cairo Marriott hotel.
