The Friday night opening of the annual leading and largest film festival of its kind in Egypt was on the night of December 23rd at the breathtaking Dusit Thani Lake View Hotel, located in the fifth settlement of the New Cairo District - DG Festival was back for its 13th year. Every year DG Fest presents new and exciting cinema from the Arab world and beyond, introducing audiences to fresh new talent and original and distinctive filmmaking. Glamour stakes were high at the 13th edition of the DG Film Festival’s night, it was all about distinction -- commending the years most eminent and flourishing achievements. Actors, directors, producers, writers and the best of the industry all anticipate Egypt’s finest Award winning night showcased at one of Egypt’s premiere locations. It was an inspirational night of jaw dropping beauty and sensational couture where all the guests wrapped up the evening with a new appreciation of one another’s achievements. DG has established itself as a major festival and also extended its platform to present and honor excellence in many other fields. And as a tradition, the night was hosted by the beautiful Poussy Shalaby, and all the pioneering guest winners attended, all eager to receive their awards. DG honored and awarded Abdel Rahman Abo Zahra for his success stories as his name continue to be recognised with eminence among renowned prodigies. The notable work of all the great award winners mentioned below deservedly placed each and every one in the lead winning them all a DG Special award: Dear Guest Special Awards were presented for the credible performance of the Egyptian Synchronized Swimming team & for the work of Sabreen for her role in “Afrah El Koba”. The gorgeous Ragaa El Gedawy for her Performance in 2016, the talented Khaled El Nabawy for his role in “7 Arwah”, and everyone’s favourite Tarek Lotfy for his role in “Shehadet Milad”. The talented Ahmed Bedier for his role in “Hebta”, sweetheart Sherif Mounir for his role in “Men 30 Sana”, and last but not least, my personal favourite leading man - Maged Kedwany for his role in “Hebta”

The great Youssef El Sherif for his role in “Al Kaisar”, and the wonderful Eyad Nassar for his role in “7 Arwah”. The beautiful Dalia El Beheiry for her role in “Yawmiat Zawga Mafrousa” and the elegant Anoushka for her role in “Grand Hotel”. Darling Rogina was awarded for her role in “Al Ostoora”, and the very deserved Gamal El Adl for the Drama Production throughout 2016. Amr Mahmoud Yassin was awarded for his creative role in “Nasibi w Esmetak Series”. Walid Mansour was awarded for the Cinema Production in 2016, and Walid Hariri for his innovation in the Events lighting Production. Ahmed Swillam was also awarded a DG special award for his role in Sports Investment. Dear Guest Voting Awards for television were presented to the stunning Donia Samir Ghanem who took home a plaque with the title of best comedian actress. While the talented Bayoumi Fouad won the exact title in the male category for 2016. The oh-so-lovely Yehia El Fakharani, and amazing, yet disturbing role of Youssra were praised for their worthiness throughout 2016 with the highest voting, comfortably placing them both in the lead, as Television’s Best male/female actor/ actress for this year.

This years Best Youth Actor/ Actress awards went to Mohamed Mamdouh and Amina Khalil. Amr Adib and Mona El Shazly received awards for their substantial magnitude within the media throughout 2016.

Television greats Mohamed El Adl was awarded the Best Director award, while Tamer Habib was presented the Best Script writer award.

The extremely talented award of Best cinema Director went to Hady El Bagoury, and Best Script Writer award went to Ayman Bahgat Amar.

The extremely dynamic and distinguished, Ahmed El Sakka deservedly earned his title for best cinema actor, and the best cinema actress award once again went to the impressive leading lady, Mona Zaki.

DG Best Youth Actor was presented to Ahmed Dawoud, while Beautiful Nahed Al Sebaei took home the same award for the female category.

Hebta & Min 30 Sana, were voted “Best Films” of the year.

Our Dear Guest Best Comedian Actor Award very deservingly went to none other, but Ahmed Helmy for the millionth time. Stunning Yasmine Abdel Aziz won the exact title in the female category.

Another big winner yet again, was the distinguished sport presenter Ahmed Shobier, while everyone’s favourite Mohamed Salah won the award for Best Athletic Person of 2016.

Tamim’s outstanding talent earned him an award for best music arranger, while pioneering Nader Abdallah won his award for best poet, along with Tamer Ali, winner of the best composer award.

The absolutely gorgeous Angham was deservedly voted Best singer for 2016, while the esteemed Tamer Hosny was named best singer as well as his “Omri Ebtada” album winning Best Album for the year. DG Best Rising Singer award went to Ihab Amir, and promising Haidy Moussa won her award in the exact same category for the female division.

The tearjerking “Mabalash” by Mohamed Hamaki won Best Video Clip. While the DG Best Single went to “Kol Maghani”, by Hossam Habib & Shereen. The promising “The Five” won an award as Best Group throughout 2016.

“Al Platoo” hosted by Ahmed Amin” won an award for “Best Comedian Program”. The forever controversial and exclusive “Hona Al Assema”, was voted “Best Talk Show Program”. Esaad Younis’s “Sahebat Al Saada” Leo Media Production was deservedly voted, once again Best Program, while “Sana Tania Ghona” won Best Radio Program.

The best male radio announcer award went to Osama Mounir and beautiful Ghadeer Hasan won the same award for the female category.

This is a compelling testament to the success of the Festival in building the definitive space for Egyptian and Arab talent, providing a platform for them to achieve their ambitions and also giving them the opportunity to stand tall alongside their counterparts.
